I'll preface this by assuming that a majority of purchasers of the Sony cameras which accomodate this EVF are likely photography enthusiasts since there are plenty of (much) cheaper compact cameras out there. If an eyeglass-wearing photo enthusiast cares about composition then he/she needs to give some thought to the fact that this EVF, with either provided eyecup, will still not allow the user to see the complete frame that the camera will capture without jiggling the eyecup around after you have pressed the eyecup to your glasses. If photographic composition is important to you, then this is a real pain in the neck. Not only that, but enough of that jiggling around could cause the lenses on today's plastic-lensed eyeglasses to become blemished. Personally, I am more comfortable using a viewfinder (which I use in my DSLR) and so purchased this Sony EVF just to make life easier. My view is that a photographic tool (what a camera is) should "disappear" as much as possible in the creative process. As such, the EVF should not be an impediment in any way....ESPECIALLY at THIS price. Fortunately, the Sony's "white magic" LCD screen is better than most other cameras' LCD screens in sunlight, so it is not a necessity to own an EVF here, as it is in many other cameras.

LCD Screen Sun Shield for DSLR Cameras and Camcorders compatible with Canon EOS Rebel T5i

First of all, it arrived quickly, was well-packaged and just as described, including contact information in case there was any problem (which there was not.) Digital Goja obviously cares about getting it right - great seller!

The hood feels very well-built - the outside is covered in a leather-like material and the inside with more of a felt/fabric type material, and hooks with strong velcro. It holds it shape over the LCD well too.

I bought it to do double duty. I have the Canon Vixia HV30 HDV camcorder, which I use to record my son's golf tournaments. This camera does have a viewfinder which I usually use, but I wanted to try filming with the flip-out screen (I'd like to upgrade at some point and most don't have viewfinders anymore.) It is hard to see the LCD screen out in the bright light, so this hood creates enough shade that the LCD screen shows up much better.

Viewfinder FDA-EV1S Electronic Viewfinder for NEX-5N Digital Camera

This OLED viewfinder is a great addition to my NEX-5N. I was pleasantly surprised because a few days after I placed the order I received the shipping notification from Amazon although it is always out of stock.

I have no experience with other electronic viewfinders but I can tell you this one is amazing. Very high resolution, sharp and all the necessary info shown in the viewfinder - even the live histogram. (One weird thing though when adjusting exposure compensation you wont see the histogram. It behaves the same way on the LCD - I don't know what Sony was thinking... hopefully they will change this in a firmware update)
You can go through on the camera's menu in the VF which works great (you can't utilize the LCD's touch feature - which I think wouldn't be possible anyway). I have the soft buttons customized and I found it easy to change the settings through the viewfinder. If you have the focus set to "Flexible Spot" you can move around the spot by pressing the scroll wheel and don't have to take your eyes off the finder. Pretty neat... But the other two soft buttons are not VF friendly. They are flat and don't stick out from the body so it's hard to find them - a firmware upgrade won't help on this but you can put some small rubber bumper pads on them.
You can also review the pictures in the viewfinder which is also great, the brightness and the colors are the same that you will see on the computer screen.

I strongly recommend getting this item if you're buying a Leica X2. This adds a nice new dimension to the Leica X2 shooting experience. This electronic viewfinder provides excellent visual feedback if you're going to manually focus the X2. I know this view finder is supposed to be the same as one from Olympus at less cost. However, in the future if Leica provides some additional firmware updates for the X2 I feel confident that will not render this viewfinder worthless. I do not know that Leica would make sure an Olympus-branded viewfinder would survive a firmware update.

This is an essential tool for those wanting to record video with a DSLR. Screen glare was a major problem with my Canon 7D outdoors and focusing took a lot of squinting trying to view the image on the tiny screen. A lot of people recommend the Z-Finder but I just couldn’t justify the cost so I took a chance on the QV-1. I am now a very satisfied customer and I highly recommend the QV-1 to anyone looking for a viewfinder.

Pros (+)
-Easy to install. Simply attach the baseplate like any tripod mount and adjust the up/down and left/right screws with the included hex wrench. It should take no more than a couple of minutes.
-Baseplate fits Manfrotto heads so you don’t need an additional mount. However, if you don’t use Manfrotto, there is a spot on the baseplate to attach another mount so you don’t need to take the QV-1 plate off.
-Magnetic holder is simple, yet strong. The magnet is all that is holding the viewfinder to the plate and it is strong enough to support the weight of the camera (7D in my case) without separating.
-Flip up hood makes is very simple to operate and useful for showing the screen to other people in a quick manner.
-Clearly view the screen through the eyepiece. No distortion and a nice 2.5x magnification make focusing a lot easier.
-Price. You can buy 4 of these for the price of one Z-Finder.

Cons (-)
-Rubber eyepiece is hard to turn around. In order to change the orientation of the rubber guard, you have to separate it from 2 latch points. This is only an issue if you are constantly switching from a left eye to right eye setup. I am left eye dominant and when someone else tries to use the camera, it can be cumbersome.
-Metal ring is loose and loud. The red ring, that you can attach a neck strap, spins freely and can make some metal rubbing on plastic noise that can be picked up by the microphone. I put a rubber band around mine to prevent it from spinning.

So the Good things about it:
-Its nice to hold, gives it extra bulk..which is good on occasion
-its Nice to see what your recording
-Its nice to play back what you recorded
-It has a spot for a camera strap

Whats not so good:
-The record start/stop button is not the best. Im not sure if its better for the older version, but for the new version..it takes several presses to actually start and stop recordings/take pictures.
-You have to open both charging and media slots and try to tuck them into the side of the case when fitting the camera to the mount
-No lens protector
